How member feedback is shaping government action

Thank you to the many members and partners who share their business insight with ACCA to help the government and its agencies make better informed decisions that affect you, the public, investors and ultimately the UK economy.

The difference your feedback makes is not always announced, but in Budget 2026 we can see both a) actions which have been paused and b) several modernising reforms which have all been influenced by our members’ feedback.

One such example is reporting payments to participators where we had significant concerns – as you will see in Consultation: Reporting company payments to participators — modernising the reporting framework hmrc | ACCA Global.

In the Budget the government has said that it is ‘publishing a summary of responses to the consultation on company payments to participators launched in March 2026, which closed in June 2026.

The government will not implement the new reporting requirements at this time. HMRC will continue to work with stakeholders on the concerns raised in the consultation to ensure customers can access the best information to help them meet their tax obligations.’
