Multi-factor authentication now live on all agent accounts.

HMRC provides update and guidance on MFA to all registered agents

IP-nov-25

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now live on all agent accounts, bringing them in line with the protection already in place for individual and organisation Government Gateway accounts.

While MFA is now active on all agent accounts, not all agents have signed in since activation. Members are reminded that if they have not yet signed in since their account was activated, they should do so as soon as possible.

Signing in now allows agents to confirm their access code method and settings are working as expected, avoiding any delay or disruption when they next need to access their account to carry out work on behalf of clients.

MFA for new agent accounts

MFA is now a standard part of the registration process for new agent accounts. Any agent setting up a new account from now on will have MFA in place from the outset, as part of business as usual.
