How ACCA responded to several consultations during June and July

Access to Banking Services Review: call for evidence

Commissioned by the government, this review is considering whether there should be protections for in-person banking services. While supporting the purpose of the Review, ACCA highlighted the importance of it connecting the broad range of work undertaken across government. We noted the value of the FCA exploring the issue further; likewise, how connected initiatives must be accompanied by customer education and awareness.

FRC consultation on narrow scope amendments to ISA (UK) 620 and ISAE (UK) 3000.

ACCA continue to advocate for equivalence between the UK International Standards on Auditing, International Standard on Assurance Engagements (together the ‘UK standards’) and the IAASB’s international auditing standards and international standards on assurance engagements (together the ‘IAASB standards’). ACCA also advocate for the interoperability between IAASB standards and the IESBA Code.

Modernising Revenue Scotland's tax administration framework – communications from Revenue Scotland to taxpayers

While supporting the strategic direction of proposals, we were clear in highlighting that digital first must not become digital only. With broadband connectivity still unreliable in parts of Scotland, ACCA was clear in stating that any new framework must be built around the needs of all taxpayers. We recommended that Revenue Scotland update its Charter of Standards and Values, including a standalone section that embeds taxpayers exercising the right to representation, and that agents receive the same information when granted approval.

ACCA responds to a number of consultations during the year and member insights and comments play a vital part in these responses as it affects the profession as a whole; if you have any particular feedback or case studies that would be useful for our responses, please contact us on UKPolicy@accaglobal.com.

As a reminder, there are further consultations that were issued in June for which ACCA would value member feedback to strengthen our responses on behalf of members.
