SME Tracker

The ACCA/Corporate Finance SME Tracker survey continues to run, with the latest results suggesting that SMEs across Wales are facing growing cost pressures and that 40% of SMEs will possibly struggle to meet payroll costs in April 2022. This is having an impact on SMEs’ mental health. Coverage of the Tracker results included ITV Wales and Business News Wales.

Policy support

If you would like to support our work in Wales, please contact lloyd.powell@accaglobal.com – the insights that we receive from members on business activity and policy areas is extremely valuable.

This can include joining the UK-wide Member Insights Community, completing the Tracker survey, joining policy calls or providing ad hoc support on particular policy areas and consultations.

Recent examples of where member input has been invaluable are:

  • informing an EY consultation for the Welsh government on the Professional and Business Services sector in Wales
  • discussions with the Welsh government and Business Wales around supporting SMEs on the sustainability journey
  • responding to the Senedd Finance Committee on the Welsh Tax Acts (Power to Modify) Bill – Glenn Collins from ACCA gave evidence to the Senedd Committee in early February
  • calling for the Welsh government to fund Level 7 Apprenticeships in Wales (in line with England).

One of our key policy asks is around Level 7 Apprenticeship funding, and if you would like to support our campaign on this, please contact Lloyd.powell@accaglobal.com.

‘ACCA Thinks’ podcast

We have a new podcast series, ‘ACCA Thinks’, launching soon with Business News Wales – keep an eye out for these sessions highlighting ACCA’s work to support SMEs, the road to net zero and the future of the profession.
