International Trade Week

Do you have questions about starting or expanding the export of goods? Come along to the Department for International Trade’s Scottish exporting roadshow. Supported by Scottish Development International and Chambers of Commerce, these events are open to both accountants and businesses covering all aspects of trading overseas. The roadshows cover five cities over two weeks:

• Edinburgh: 31 October
• Glasgow: 3 November
• Dundee: 8 November
• Aberdeen: 9 November
• Inverness: 10 November.

Scottish Budget

The Finance Secretary John Swinney has confirmed that the draft Scottish Budget 2023/24 will be unveiled on 15 December. The draft Budget will include planned rates for devolved taxation including business rates, income tax and Land and Buildings Transaction Tax.

ACCA Scottish Careers Week

1pm-2pm, Tuesday 8 November

This event is aimed at accountancy trainees and students where ACCA members at an early stage of their career talk about how their work contributes to a positive society.

Scottish SME funds update

• Business Loans Scotland SME fund: additional £4m of finance added. Provides loans ranging from £25,000 to £100,000 (and in exceptional circumstances up to £250,000) to eligible businesses
• UMi Debt Finance Scotland: loans of £25,001 to £250,000 to eligible businesses. Part of the Scottish Growth Scheme.
• Techstart Ventures Equity Finance: offers equity finance of up to £2m for eligible businesses.
• Foresight Scottish Growth Fund: provides equity finance of up to £2m, in rounds of up to £10m, for eligible businesses.
