Short-term lets regulation deadline approaches

Despite media coverage there has been no change to forthcoming rules on short-term lets regulation. Business or individuals operating self-catering or other short-term let property must apply for a licence by 1 October 2023. Find out more about the requirements.

British Business Bank: new fund for Scotland and Finance Week events

The British Business Bank (BBB) will launch its new Scottish fund, which will include a range of commercial finance options for SMEs on 5 October; look out for all the details in our next In Practice. BBB will also be hosting a range of Scottish events for Business Finance Week (6-10 November), which may be of interest to practitioners and clients.

Changes to Council Tax in Scotland on the way?

The Scottish government and Cosla are currently considering whether to amend multipliers for the upper bands of council tax (bands E-H) for the next tax year, meaning higher relative increases for those bands, with a decision expected in the Scottish Budget in December.
