I chose ACCA because of its global brand and recognition. I wanted to distinguish myself from my peers, and that credibility has made a real difference throughout my career.
I remember one job interview in particular. I’d already had a technical interview with the senior managers, and my second interview was with the head of department. He told me he wasn’t going to ask me any technical questions because I was ACCA. Even if there was something I didn’t know, he trusted that I would be able to manage and adapt.
That moment showed me the credibility the qualification carries with employers.
It has helped me at other points in my career too. ACCA helped me get promoted in my first job and, more recently, move from internal audit into a Finance Manager role, even though I didn’t have much experience directly relevant to the new position.
Alongside that credibility, ACCA gave me the technical skills I needed for my roles and helped me understand which areas of finance I was most interested in and good at.
For me, that combination of technical knowledge and professional credibility has helped me keep moving forward and take on new opportunities.
